Backpacker magazine posted an interesting article on why you should leave your hatchet at home. 

No matter if you agree or disagree with the article, one thing is certain, there are irresponsible people who are needlessly damaging many of our wilderness areas. 

I’ve counted numerous times where some ‘jacktard’ has chopped large swaths of bark from a live tree or hacked limbs, only to find them discarded and unused a few feet away.
